Writing Prompt #2

What does the following quote mean to you? "You don’t get to pick where you’re from, but you always have control of where you’re going."

This reminds me of a saying that says, "You can't control the cards you're dealt.  It's all about how you play them."

You will always have your parents and the rest of your family.  That's something you can't change.  You can decide who you choose to surround yourself with and who you choose to be friends with.  The choices you make are what get you to wherever you're going to end up in life.  You can't change where you're from, but you can choose where the choices you make take you.

Some things will get thrown at you, and you have to take them in stride.  Most things that happen in life are for some reason.  The reason isn't always known or clear, but it is there.

Writing Prompt #1

If a handful of people can change the world for the worse, then I am certain that a handful of people can change the world for the better.
What will you do do to make this world of ours, which feels so broken right now, a better place?

I have always felt that, if I can do one nice thing for a person, I have made a difference in their life.  While this tends to be where the chain of kindness stops, I always have the thought in the back of my mind that the chain continues.  I seem to gain more faith in humanity each day, as I see things happening around me.

I am trying my best to teach my son, even with him only being about 2, right from wrong.  Sure, it's just small things right now, but I'm slowly teaching him to be kind and respect everyone.  This starts with teaching him things like hugs being acceptable, but hitting, kicking, and spitting as not being acceptable.  I hope that these, seemingly, simple lessons, he will take them to heart and show others the kindness that I do.

I, like every other human on this earth, make assumptions about people.  My goal that I'm working toward is making it so these do not affect my decisions on whether or not to interact with them, just because I don't like the way they dress.  I try not to judge because I've been judged most of my life, especially recently.

College Application Blog =D

Yes, I've applied to a college.  I applied to PCI Academy's School of Massage and I will be applying to the Omaha School of Massage and Healthcare.

(Did I do this right?  Hope so!)
